Thank you President Gayoom…and Happy New Year to you too
I received my president’s customary New Year card. Just like the 36 odd thousand others in the government of Maldives I receive at least a half dozen of them every year. Every time I receive a card from him I take a few seconds to think about how bad an aesthetic sense he has before tossing it into my bin. I must tell my president that his photography obtrudes upon all my senses in a very unpleasant way.

What are you tryna say: Did you like it.. or...?
What I have done for the past 2 years is to write: "Addressee refused to accept, returned to sender" and hand it back to the office staff for handling!
Best "happy new year" post I've seen in the blogosphere so far this year.
HNY to u too dude.
Hey...me too do that. tossing his cards into bin. Thats the best part of it.Cox doing that, sort of ease my mind at least for few minutes. happy new year
we call it filing the card in its right place. happy to know there are many who does the same.
a post on how much will be spent on the customary greeting cards and photo fulhu (which is in every government office, sometimes more than one) pls.
hehe nice post!
I know the feeling! the photography.. jst ghastly!!
Hey, why should we criticise somebody's love for the arts? Just because Gayoom hasn't reached that aesthetic level YET, he may yet become a great photographer. I am quite sensitive when people criticise other people who are trying to pursue any kind of art form. Maybe because I a myself have been discouraged from art and music because it's supposed to be haram in Islam.
On another note, I agree: what a waste of public funds, huh?
