Raajjetherey Meehunge Hatharu kulhandhu Madhu?

Racial supremacism, or Malé-Supremacism to be more precise, is very much alive. Have a look at this exchange on Dr.Waheed’s blog.

I found it very funny. And about raajjetherey meehun something madhu, i think its ridiculous that some people still think so. People who utter such racial slur should be penalized.

A little unrelated to the post but what does this expression mean?

I checked for kulhandhu in the online Radheef. Says its a local measure of weight equal to 8.5 grams. SO??

  5. anon 6:33 - thanks. I've been thinking of the same thing too. What a coincidence. As for the meaning of the expression I think it simply means that people from outer islands are mentally retarded or have lower intellectual capacity compared to people from Male. Perhaps technically speaking its like saying that islanders have lower IQ levels. Well, thats my interpretation. It could perhaps mean something totally different when you consider the morphemes of the entire phrase, though.

The titled expression is a distortion of the original one, "raajjetherey meehunge hatharu kulha-dhili madhu".
Which describes the difficulty islanders face in finding women, Islam permitting four women, which equals hatharu kulhandili.

Mal'e-supremacism is dying if not dead already. Its Addu-supremacism thats on the rise.
